Description

Major Walter Nowotny was the first German Luftwaffe pilot to be credited with 250 victories, totalling 258 in 442 combat missions during World War II. He was later tasked with testing, tactics and development of Germany's jet fighter program and later died in combat at the age of 23 in 1944.
