The Mini-King is far more than a Venture 18 fitted with a monster truck shell. It has evolved into an entirely new machine created to capture the huge personality of the full-size Big Kahuna Monster Truck in a compact 1:18 scale. Almost every part of the Venture18 platform has been replaced to deliver true mini-monster performance.

A tough TVP composite chassis, twin oil-filled shocks at all four corners, and massive new axle housings with three-gear differentials transform this truck into a compact powerhouse. A single-speed transmission drives counter-rotating CVD steel  center shafts for smooth power delivery, while heavy-duty lower links and the officially licensed Big Kahuna body complete the transformation.

Powered exclusively by Flux brushless technology, the Mini-King punches far above its size. We’re confident its speed, torque, and control will leave you absolutely blown away.

Topping it all off is the fully licensed Ford Bronco 4400 bodyshell, an RC replica inspired by the real-life Big Kahuna truck, run by Shane England, with the help of RTR Vehicles and Vaughn Gittin Jr. Motorsports. Featuring a detailed interior, internal roll cage, and working LED grill bar, this stunning body brings authentic Big Kahuna style and realism to the Mini-King.

Lighting and Internal Protection

The truck comes with working grille LEDs already installed, and the roof-mounted light bar location is designed to be LED-ready for easy upgrades. Owners can simply install the optional Light Bar Set with no modifications required. For even more lighting features—including advanced modes and control options—the RL-700 Light Control Unit can be added to expand functionality.

Fully Licensed Bodyshell & Authentic Graphics

The Big Kahuna name has serious pedigree — and your new HPI Racing Mini King Big Kahuna model brings that legacy straight into your hands. Driven and owned by Shane England out of Powderly, Texas, Big Kahuna made its debut in 2013 and has become a fan-favourite for its daring stunts, bold graphics and surf-culture flair. 

We’ve captured that spirit in a meticulously licensed bodyshell: the Ford Bronco 4400–inspired design that Big Kahuna unveiled for its modern era. Every curve, graphic and detail reflects the real truck’s aesthetic, from the surf-board silhouette to the rugged roll-cage and standout “BIG KAHUNA” brand.

Crafted from high-strength polycarbonate, the bodyshell is screenprinted and hand-finished with cutout windows sitting atop a hard-plastic internal roll cage for scale authenticity and durability.

It’s a full-fidelity tribute to the real Big Kahuna truck, now shrunk to RC scale with all the attitude intact.

Big Stance, Big Traction with Precision Wheels and Adjustable Track Width

Scale-accurate 1.2-inch MT-1 deep dish wheels give the Mini-King its unmistakable monster truck stance, and each wheel is wrapped in Tredz TRZ 72×50 monster truck tires with foam inserts for reliable grip on dirt, carpet, and loose surfaces. These tires are designed to deliver confident traction while maintaining the round profile and sidewall flex you’d expect from full-size monster truck rubber.

To fine-tune the width of the truck, the Mini-King includes two removable 7 mm hex adaptors. Drivers can choose the standard stance for precise handling or install the wider +5.5mm offset for increased stability during high-speed runs and aggressive cornering. The wheels are supported by aluminum 7mm drive hexes, ensuring a secure connection to the axle and improved durability under heavy loads.

Precise On-Axle Steering Control

The Mini-King’s steering system has been engineered for strength, precision, and direct response. Instead of mounting the servo on the chassis, the Mini-King uses an on-axle steering servo layout, placing the SD-02MGWR metal-geared micro servo directly on the axle housing. This design minimizes link flex, shortens the steering path, and delivers immediate, consistent steering feel across rough terrain.

By keeping the servo firmly anchored to the axle, steering inputs remain precise even under heavy suspension movement or during hard cornering. The result is improved control at both low speeds and high-speed monster truck runs. Combined with the Mini-King’s robust front U/J driveshafts and heavy-duty axle housings, the on-axle steering setup provides reliable, confident handling wherever you choose to drive.

Dual Shocks and Torsion Bar Stability

The Mini-King’s suspension system is engineered to handle the demands of true monster truck action. Each corner features dual oil-filled shocks, giving the truck a plush, controlled feel over jumps, bumps, and rough terrain. Running two shocks per arm increases damping capacity and stability, allowing the Mini-King to soak up impacts with ease while maintaining strong traction and consistent wheel contact.

To further refine the handling, the Mini-King is equipped with front and rear torsion/sway bars. These bars help reduce chassis roll through turns, keeping the truck flatter and more predictable at speed. Whether you’re blasting across uneven ground or carving tight indoor lines, the combination of dual shocks and sway bars delivers a confident, composed driving experience that feels true to the full-size monster truck style.

Dual Oil-Filled Shocks on Every Corner

Each wheel of the Mini-King is supported by a pair of oil-filled shocks, giving the truck the damping performance required for authentic monster truck action. This twin-shock setup increases overall suspension control by spreading the load across two dampers, allowing the Mini-King to absorb big hits, land jumps smoothly, and maintain traction on uneven terrain.

The added oil volume and increased damping surface help keep the chassis stable and improving responsiveness over ruts, rocks, and loose dirt. The result is a compact truck that feels planted, controlled, and ready for aggressive driving in any environment.

The Mini-King features a precision-engineered single-speed center transmission that efficiently transfers power from the brushless motor to the front and rear axles. Equipped with a 0.5M machined gear set, this gearbox delivers smooth, reliable torque distribution while keeping drivetrain losses to a minimum.

Its compact design works seamlessly with the counter-rotating CVD steel dogbone driveshafts, helping to reduce torque twist and maintain stability under acceleration. Built for durability, the center transmission ensures consistent power delivery even under aggressive bashing and high-speed runs, making the Mini-King feel responsive, controlled, and ready to handle any terrain.

Heavy-Duty Axles with Three-Gear Differentials

The Mini-King’s front and rear axles are more than just visually impressive, they’re engineered for serious performance. Each axle houses a robust three-gear differential, designed to provide smooth power distribution while handling the high torque of the brushless motor. These super beefy axle casings protect the internal gears from shocks, landings, and aggressive driving, ensuring long-lasting durability and consistent performance.

Waterproof Flux ESC for Full Control

The Mini-King is equipped with the FLX16-3S30-WP Flux electronic speed controller, designed to handle the full power of the 4500KV brushless motor with precision and reliability. Fully waterproof, the ESC allows you to drive through wet or muddy conditions without worry, keeping electronics protected and performance consistent.

The Flux ESC provides smooth throttle response, efficient braking, and adjustable settings for fine-tuning the truck’s behavior to match your driving style. With an XT-30 connector included, battery installation is simple, secure, and ready for high-current performance. Paired with the Mini-King’s brushless motor, this ESC ensures controlled, powerful acceleration whether you’re climbing, bashing, or launching jumps.

Meta;l-Geared SD-02MGWR Steering Servo

The water-resistant HPI SD-02MGWR steering servo is the ideal companion for the Mini-King FLUX electronics package. This is a high torque servo with up to 1.5kg-cm holding power at 6V, plus it's water-resistant so it can easily handle splashes and water drops when driving through puddles, snow and mud. Mounted directly to the axle, it provides extra weight over the front axle for precise steering control.

Robust Lower 4-Link Suspension

The Mini-King features a robust lower 4-link suspension setup at both the front and rear, engineered to handle the demands of true monster truck performance. These heavy-duty links provide a strong, stable connection between the chassis and the axles, keeping the truck planted through jumps, rough terrain, and high-speed cornering.

By controlling axle articulation and minimizing unwanted flex, the 4-link system ensures that power is efficiently transferred to the wheels while maintaining consistent ride height and traction. Combined with dual oil-filled shocks and torsion bars, the lower 4-link setup allows the Mini-King to deliver smooth, controlled handling while absorbing the impacts and stresses of aggressive bashing.

The Mini-King comes equipped with the cutting-edge TF-706 radio system, the latest addition to the HPI-Racing steering wheel and pistol grip lineup. This fully-featured, ultra-lightweight 2.4GHz 6-channel radio is designed for precision and control, offering complete adjustability to suit your driving style.

For added versatility, the TF-706 includes a thumb stick option, enabling one-handed driving.
